The name carries deep family and cultural significance. The Potskin family originally carried the name Pawatakan, which was changed during colonization for settler systems. Reclaiming the name is an act of cultural pride, remembrance, and continuation.

Pawatakan represents protecting dreams within the four dimensions of life: emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental. The brand exists to honour Indigenous stories, artists, and collective community impact through art, design, storytelling, and cultural expression.

The first collection, ‘The Dream Guardian Collection’, featured nine real community members who made meaningful impacts in their communities. The artwork was created collaboratively with Indigenous artist Jonathan Cardinal (JCAT), with a strong emphasis on collective recognition, respect, and creative unity.
